Landing on a Deserted Island

Q/A

bullets, fishing-rods and sail cloth to make a tent.

b) Why did the dogs swim toward the boat?

c)  How did the telescope help the narrator?
A.With the help of this telescope, the narrator was able to make the necessary observations.
They noticed a little opening between the rocks, near the mouth of a creek, towards which
all the geese and ducks swam.

d) What advice does the narrator give his son, Jack? Why?
A.Jack received a blow on the face from the lobster’s tail. In his rage Jack took up a stone,
and killed the lobster with a single blow. Due to this behaviour, the narrator advised his
son that it is wrong to revenge an injury while you are in a state of anger.

e) Give a brief description of the island where the family landed?
A.As the family was approaching the island they found that the island appeared to be
gloomy and unpromising. They noticed casks, bales, chests and other material from the
shipwreck floating around them. The narrator and his son managed to haul them
alongside the boat. As they neared the land, Fritz with his hawk’s eye saw some trees and
exclaimed that they were palm-trees. Ernest wished that he would now be able to enjoy
larger and better coconuts.
